Why a Listening Room?
Not everyone enjoys or is comfortable writing their story.
Not everyone finds reading easy. And some people simply connect more deeply through listening.
Stories don’t live in only one form.
For many, meaning arrives through the sound of a human voice - through pauses, tone, breath, and emotion. Listening can make stories more accessible, more intimate, and sometimes easier to receive.
The Listening Room exists to make space for that.
It offers a different way to reflect upon a story, not only through the page, but through voice. It is a place where stories can be spoken, heard, and witnessed, just as they are.
World Storytelling Day 2026 – Light in the Dark
World Storytelling Day is a global celebration of storytelling and listening, shared across cultures, languages, and borders.
The theme for World Storytelling Day 2026 is Light in the Dark - stories that carry courage, hope, kindness, strength, or quiet clarity while moving through difficult seasons of life.
To honour World Storytelling Day, the Listening Room will open on 20 March 2026 with an oral story shared in the voice of Sasha Frugone.
Sasha is a talented storyteller and a valued member of the Daily Inspired Life storytelling community. Her story bears witness to her real-life experience of finding light in the dark.
What to expect when the Listening Room opens
When the Listening Room opens, you’ll be invited to:
Listen to a true story, spoken by the person who lived it
Experience a story without commentary, performance, or pressure to respond
Pause, rather than scroll
Reflect privately on what the story stirs for you
It is a listening experience designed to slow you down and create connection.
