This Narrative Reflection, inspired by story #224, invites you to practise returning to the present when your thoughts pull you toward the past or the future. It shows you how to notice what is right in front of you, so you can move through hard days one moment at a time.

Set aside a few quiet minutes and begin.

What is a Narrative Reflection?

Narrative Reflections are guided prompts drawn from real stories shared across our global community.

They invite you to reflect on what the story reveals in your own life, and to take one deliberate step toward the story you want to live.

They are simple, but not surface-level. Practised consistently, they reshape how you understand your past, respond in the present, and step into your future.

The past may still trouble you, and the future may feel uncertain.  Presence brings you back to today. One moment at a time.

Take your journal:
Complete this phrase and write freely for two minutes:

“Today, one small way I can be present is…”

Choose three moments in your day:

Pause to notice what is right in front of you.

Bring your senses alive.

What can you see? What can you hear?

What can you feel against your skin?

What scent or taste is there?

It might be the warmth of a cup, the sound of the kettle, a breath of fresh air, or the colours of the sky.

Before the Day Ends:

Take a few deep breaths and note one thing

that grounded you, or brought you a small moment of calm, as you moved through the day.
